I’m Ashley Castle! Licensed Esthetician, dog mom, Taurus, and owner of The Wax Bar. I graduated from Continental School of Beauty in 2020 and have been waxing ever since! The main question…does it hurt?

Yes, it can be painful, especially at your first appointment. This isn’t a pain that lasts, however, and you’ll forget all about it by the time you leave the studio! The results are so worth it and you’ll be hooked after just one wax!

How long does the hair have to be?

Please make sure hair growth is about ¼ to ½ inch long (it can be longer) when coming to your appointment. This will allow for the best outcomes as hair that is too short can sometimes be hard for the wax to grip. Typically 2 weeks from shaving is ideal for most clients.

What are some benefits of waxing vs. shaving?

With waxing we are pulling the hair from the root causing it to have to grow completely from scratch. Shaving only cuts the hair at skin level so it comes back much faster and can sometimes be hard stubble. Waxing will have your hair coming back in softer, finer, and more sparse after just one wax!

How long does it last?

Typically most clients get about 2 weeks hair free. After that it starts coming back in slowly and by about week 4 they’re ready to come back in for another wax. Facial waxing is recommended every 2-3 weeks.

What type of wax do we use?

Here at TWB we use hard wax for most areas of the body. Soft wax is used for facial waxing and sometimes full legs. Hard wax is much less painful than soft wax for most areas and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.

Can I wax while on my cycle?

Yes! If you’re comfortable, we are too. We do request a fresh tampon or menstrual cup be used for the duration of the appointment. Keep in mind you may be more sensitive while menstruating.
